Viewed from above, orange slices fan out across a pale green plate in a wash of golden yellow light. The whole composition hums with warmth — the kind of painting that makes a grey morning feel a little brighter just by being in the room.

I was drawn to the overhead perspective here, the way it flattens the scene into something almost graphic while still feeling painterly and alive. The green plate disappears into the yellow background, letting the fruit take center stage. It's a deceptively simple subject with a lot going on beneath the surface.
